These Are Our Bodies (T.A.O.B) Series
This series started in high school. It grew in college. Black women are the boats of humanity, but we are treated the opposite (hence TAOB). The easiest way and most appealing to me that I found to depict this was through black woman sexuality. This body made and produced life and should be able to be presented in a way that is not fetishized, hypersexualized, or deemed "fast" and promiscuous. The naked black body can be pure, and bold, and classical too.
Homage Posters
The summer of 2017, I was a teacher with the Children's Defense Fund Freedom School. I had one of the best summers of life. With a Freedom Schools Program, the teacher has to have a theme for their classroom. My theme was " Black Gallery" and every station had to go with the theme, so all of my stations were black artists I was most influenced by. I actually gave the original posters to a teacher for her classroom and I ended up remaking these posters because I enjoyed them so much. These posters are my ode to art education. I learn about and hope to teach about these black artists and I use a medium that reminds me of my time as a middle school teacher. I use Mr. Sketch markers for all of them!

Portraits
Portraits are fun and they are always great practice. I feel many artists feel the need to do portraits to "prove" their artistic ability, which is one reason I have pushed myself to move into different subjects. Finding likeness in how I depict someone is always a great experience though.
